FAQ's for Pilates

How often should I engage in Pilates?
   - Pilates is most effective when practiced 2-3 times per week. However, it's worth noting that three sessions are better than two, two is better than one, and even one is better than none! If budget allows, consider incorporating private or semi-private sessions for optimal results. If these aren't feasible on a regular basis, group classes can still yield benefits, with the option to include a private session every 4-6 weeks or as finances permit.

Do I need to be physically fit before starting Pilates?
   - No, Pilates can be tailored to accommodate your current fitness level. It is an inclusive practice suitable for individuals of all fitness backgrounds and body types.

I am already strong and athletic. Can Pilates be beneficial for me?
   - Absolutely! Pilates is instrumental in enhancing core strength and stability, which can significantly improve athletic performance. Additionally, the increased flexibility from Pilates can help maintain overall mobility and reduce the risk of injuries.

I have a shoulder, back, or knee injury. Can I participate in Pilates?
   - Yes, Pilates offers a wide array of exercises and modifications suitable for various conditions. We recommend obtaining clearance from your physical therapist (PT) and scheduling a private session first. This will allow us to provide you with proper modifications tailored to your specific injury.

What should I wear for Pilates?
   - Wear comfortable athletic attire that allows the instructor to observe your body's form and movements.

I am pregnant. Is Pilates safe for me?
   - Pregnancy and bodies are unique, so it's generally not advisable to start a new exercise program during pregnancy. However, we offer private sessions and specialized prenatal group classes for pregnant individuals. If you were already practicing Pilates before pregnancy, with some adjustments, you may continue into your third trimester. Always consult with your healthcare provider before engaging in prenatal Pilates.

Punctuality:

  • Sessions cannot be extended for late arrivals. If you arrive after your scheduled start time, your session will conclude at the originally scheduled end time.

Injuries:

  •  Inform your instructor if you have any pre-existing injuries or conditions that may affect your workout. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance.

Mobile Phones:

  •  As a courtesy to your instructor and fellow students, we request that all cell phones be switched off while inside the studio premises.

Attire and Fragrances:

  • Avoid wearing scents with strong odors, such as perfume, and refrain from clothing with zippers, as they can damage the vinyl. While wearing socks is optional, we recommend them, especially if you have any foot infections.

Practice Caution:

  • Your practice is personal, and it's essential to progress at your own pace. We recognize that individuals are at different fitness levels, so there's no need to push beyond your comfort zone.

Clean-Up:

  •  We provide disinfectant and towels for cleaning mats and equipment. Please ensure that you clean your equipment, mat, and any props or accessories used after each session as a courtesy to the next user.
